Northrop Grumman Network Communication Administrator - Top Secret in Palmdale, California

Northrop Grumman is seeking a well-qualified Network Communications Administrator to join our qualified, diverse and dynamic team of technical professionals to support classified government programs at its Palmdale, CA location.

The selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time at our Palmdale, CA campus. The individual will perform the following duties on a day-to-day basis in support of the program:

  • Maintains smooth operation of LAN/WAN/VPNs.

  • Plans, designs, configures, and installs network hardware in support of customer requirements.

  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware / software interconnection, as well as interfaces, including routers, multiplexers, firewalls, switches, gateways, etc.

  • Proposes solutions to management.

  • Ensures all communication requirements (based on future needs and current usage) are configured to optimize cost savings.

  • Creates and ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.

  • Provides regular monitoring, and network analysis, regarding short and long-range planning for classified systems.

  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.

  • Designs networks, or portions of networks, including the selection of hardware and software packages.

  • Provide incident and service request support in accordance with enterprise SLAs.

Additional duties may include:

  • Plan, manage and implement complex network designs in support of customer requirements.

  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

  • Support network teams in project designs to clarify project requirements, provide design solutions, in accordance with standards.

  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems.

  • Document network hardware and software technology components.

  • Install and configure routers, switches and firewalls. (Cisco/Palo Alto)

  • Implement and troubleshoot LAN technologies such as VLANs, trunking (port tagging), spanning-tree and protocols.

  • Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems.

  • Periodically provide after-hours and weekend support.

  • Work is performed without appreciable direction.

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results.

  • Interface regularly with customers and manage customer installation timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful deployments.

  • Manage timely resolution of all critical and/or complex problems meeting SLA requirements.

  • Lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Work after hours, and weekends, as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience; OR an Associate's degree 4 years of experience; OR a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 6 years of experience

  • Current DoD Top Secret Clearance

  • Ability to obtain, and maintain, access to Special Programs prior to starting as condition of employment

  • Active DOD 8570 IAT level 2 baseline certification (example: Security+ CE); OR must have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of start date

  • Experience designing and maintaining LAN & WAN based networks, managing routing protocols on large LAN environments

  • Experience with Cisco hardware (routers, switches, and firewalls)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree Network Engineering

  • Active DOD 8570 IAT level 2 baseline certification (example: Security+ CE)

  • Cisco CCNA-security, Cisco CCNP, or CCIE

  • Experience with Network design, analysis, and administration of Cisco routers, switches, hubs, and Palo Alto firewalls

  • Experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, SolarWinds, Opnet, etc.) would be nice to have

  • Experience with configuring TACLANES would be ideal

  • Experience designing and maintaining LAN & WAN based networks

  • Experience with managing routing protocols on large LAN environments

  • Previous experience troubleshooting network procedures and best practices

  • Experience with network challenges associated with systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis and system architecture design

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, or previous management of small teams

Salary Range: $79,300 - $118,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
