Job Summary:

As a Design & Estimate Engineer at Trane, he/she will be responsible for the development of cost design & estimate for mechanical systems for new construction and renovation projects. This will include VRF, Light Commercial and Package Equipment and related products for the Unitary Sales Department.He/She will work closely with the Unitary Sales Manager, project engineer, and other members of the project team to develop an understanding of the project scope, schedule, and budget. he/she will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of the project estimate throughout the project lifecycle. To be successful in this role, he/she will need to have a strong understanding of the VRF, Package Equipment and Unitary Products to effectively communicate with project team members and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides Technical support for the Unitary Sales team in all product-related queries.

  • Correct selection and recommendation of products based on clients requirement via VRF software provided.

  • Coordination with supplier on all technical requirements in the understanding and improvement of all products related to the Unitary team.

  • Assist the sales team on all project preparations and presentation to clients that need technical assistance.

  • Review and analyze project documents to develop an understanding of the scope of work, project schedule, and potential risks.

  • Identify and quantify risk factors that could impact the accuracy of the estimate.

  • Present the estimate to the project team for review and approval.

  • Update the estimate throughout the course of the project as new information becomes available.

  • Monitor project progress and revise the estimate as needed.

  • Participate in project meetings and provide input on the status of the design & estimate.

  • Maintain regular communication with Supplier on all product changes.

  • Ensure product performance and prepare a review and recommendation on selected products delivered in the field.

  • Conduct technical training for Unitary team and other departments related in the products..

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (license preferred)

  • 5+ years experience in VRF Technology, with solid portfolio of work

  • Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills

  • Proven experience in the HVAC system for Unitary and VRF Products.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Desire to continue to grow skill set with ongoing education and training.

Key Competencies:

· He/she should have strong understanding of the Unitary Products particularly VRF as needed in engaging customers and make the best recommendation to ensure credibility of the recommendations made.

· He/she must possess HVAC engineering experience, specific knowledge of products selections and ability to interpret, communicate best recommendations.

  • He/she should have proficient skills with Computer skills (Microsoft office applications), including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. They must also be knowledgeable of VRF software provided by Trane.

· In executing his/her job, design & estimate engineer communicates with various stakeholders and also act as link with the project owners, contractors, project managers, etc. Therefore, it is important to have great communication and relationship building skills.

· He/she should have exceptional analytical skills to utilize every piece of information they need and arrive at valid design & estimates for a project.

  • Involves working with different teams, Sales, Operations, Fulfillment Engineers, and project management professionals to actualize a project. Therefore, he/she need to have collaboration skills to succeed on this job.
