Role Summary

Reporting to the Group Manager, Data, this role is responsible for the coordination of analytics and implementation of Capricorn's data strategy to deliver actionable insights across the organisation to unlock the full potential of our data. The Data and Analytics Manager will provide leadership and training to data analysts, promoting a collaborative culture and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Drive deliverables outlined in Capricorn's data strategy to ensure we realise the potential of our data to meet business goals and optimise new value opportunities for our organisation.

  • Display strategic leadership in problem solving, conceiving and developing sound methodologies to inform approach including the design, configuration and implementation of analytic solutions.

  • Lead and develop a team of data analysts to work with large datasets mixing both quantitative and qualitative information.

  • Ensure team members have clarity of team and individual goals, accountabilities and responsibilities.

  • Support team to create compelling and informative data visualisations for reports, interactive dashboards, and presentations to deliver insights and recommendations to enable timely and informed decision making.

  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand success and to share an acquired in-depth knowledge of Capricorn's data assets.

  • Represent the team to the highest professional standards to effectively communicate complexity to diverse stakeholders.

Skills, Knowledge and Attributes:

  • Demonstrated business acumen coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Able to construct relatively complex SQL scripts to manipulate large datasets, develop systemic solutions and automate reporting.

  • Able to inform and prepare professional standard artefacts using Microsoft Office suite.

  • Exposure to data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.

  • Exposure to programming languages such as Python or R would be highly regarded.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated success in leading a team of analysts working on cross functional projects and reporting.

  • Demonstrated success in working with large datasets in a SQL environment.

  • Experience in a similar role in financial services, automotive or logistics would be highly regarded.

  • Only applicants eligible to work in Australia / NZ will be considered.

Qualifications:

  • A tertiary level qualification in a computer science, commerce, statistics, mathematics, data science or other quantitative field.
