Senior Investment Writer
The Senior Investment Writer drafts market, investment and retirement content for a variety of audiences to inform of the organization's investment activities. Working under minimal supervision, this job is responsible for producing and editing investment-specific written documentation that will be distributed across various communication channels.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Develops written and multimedia investment content (including white papers and product support pieces) that is clear and engaging for all target audiences.
Collaborates with professionals in different functions, including client service, finance, strategy and investment teams to ensure correctness of content and establish key objectives and themes.
Proofreads investment articles and submits final drafts and layouts to production department for review.
Possesses thorough knowledge of the organization’s investment activities as well as broader industry trends to draft well-informed communications.
Recognizes and upholds the firm’s brand in all written investment communications.
Builds strong relationships with investment and communications counterparts as well as key internal stakeholders to ensure successful strategy alignment and distribution of content.
Provides recommendations to management on messaging and communications formats to maintain clarity and accuracy of message.

This person will create enterprise-level thought leadership content for all of TIAA’s institutional and individual clients. This will include articles, graphics, web content, video and event scripting, social media and email campaigns, and possibly more.
Help launch regularly recurring content series and new campaigns, and write the content necessary to support it all.
Coordinate with colleagues at Nuveen to leverage their content and customize it for TIAA audiences.
Develop relationships with thought leaders throughout the firm—and draw on a deep roster of independent, outside sources whenever appropriate—to obtain the points of view, research, data, and other information necessary to create content from a blank page.
Create content partnerships across marketing and other senior investment and business stakeholders across the firm.
Provide other business support, as needed.
Five plus years of experience as a financial writer; experience as a journalist at a national outlet is a strong plus, as is writing for a financial services firm
Five plus years having a deep subject matter expertise in the areas core to our business—retirement strategies and products; investing strategies such as income investing and ESG; diversity and inclusion topics
Five plus years with the ability to understand nuanced and complex topics, draw out a simple message and call to action, and reframe for different audiences, including plan sponsors, consultants, other institutions, and our end investor
Five plus years with the ability to develop a story from the initial idea all the way through sourcing, outline, draft, revisions, and polish
Five plus years of excellent communication skills; must be able to present well at meetings and write conversationally and with authority
Ability to pivot quickly if news events call for faster communication with our clients
Superior project management, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Capable of juggling multiple tasks, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
The ability to quickly master TIAA’s systems and technology for content creation, review and approval
Potential Salary: $120,500.00 USD
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
