FirstService Residential Maintenance Technician in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

We manage over 1000+ units across the Philadelphia Metro Area. This position is responsible for performing various maintenance functions that are necessary in order to preserve and improve the value of our community.  Our Maintenance Technicians  ensure operation of all mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements, both plan and unplanned. Maintenance Technician  will assist in improving operating conditions, quality, and integrity of all building systems and building appearances. Responsibilities also include completing work orders to building standards.

This position is at a condominium building in Philadelphia.Â

If you have a great attitude, strong work ethic, genuine interest in property maintenance you may be an excellent fit. Note: This job is full-time and requires some weekend availability. Candidates will be required to work and on call schedule every 4-5 weeks.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance related to HVAC / Mechanical troubleshooting and Preventive maintenance, Electrical Work and Plumbing, DrainÂcleaning/troubleshooting,repair/replace locks, smoke detectors, and light fixtures, basic carpentry. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

  • Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weight up to 50 pounds. This Movement can occur throughout the day.

  • Read and interpret work orders and clearly document work performed which may include some of these examples clearing clogged toilets, sinks, drains, water leaks, loss of power, unsafe facility conditions.

  • Light snow removal including clearing walkways and laying down rock salt to prevent slipping.
  • Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented and with good reason skills
  • Ensure Mechanical rooms as well as electrical rooms elevator rooms are always free and clear of hazards
  • Maintenance Coverage after-hours: handle emergency service requests outside of normal business hours (flood/power loss/etc.)

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Technical Background from University or Vocational sources a plus. Years in High Rise operation also a plus.
  • 5 years’ experience in working within a high-rise building maintenance environment.
  • 5 years’ experience with Mechanical Knowledge.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, Electric meter to perform duties
  • Including HVAC Mechanical systems electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting skills.
  • Ability to read prints, sketches, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, schematic drawings.
  • Experience in the use of all industrial hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and be a proactive problem solver.
  • Superior customer service skills including the ability to professionally communicate with residents and manage difficult situations if they arise.

Hourly wage: $21.00 - $24.50 per hour
