Reference #: 20003070DescriptionThe Senior Research Associate in the Lewis Katz School ofMedicine's Pulmonary/Critical Care/SleepMed department provides comprehensivesenior level coordination of the research activities.Responsibilities include providing complex technicalassistance to principal investigators in support of various researchactivities; autonomously managing the day-to-day research activities, such as:designing and planning research studies, and overseeing general datacollection; serving as an authoritative source on research practices,precedents, theory, and principles; ensuring all projects are completed in atimely fashion; acting as a liaison with funding agencies, analyzing data,setting research standards, coordinating project requirements; establishingpolicies and procedures for a division/sub-unit; ensuring staff adheres to allpolicies, procedures, and professional standards within the division/sub-unit;establishing strategic objectives for division/sub-unit and providing inputinto divisional strategies based on functional expertise; identifying andanalyzing complex problems requiring in-depth technical knowledge andexperience in a specific area or discipline; selecting an appropriate course ofaction that requires independent judgment and typically involves change orinnovation in existing procedures or techniques. In addition, the SeniorResearch Associate makes complex decisions within broad guidelines; establishessolid relationships with internal and external contacts in order to assesscustomers' longer-term needs; acts as a communication conduit on matters ofoperational and strategic importance; and occasionally make formalpresentations to customer groups; establishes priorities, provides training andfeedback, and ensures proper planning of all projects and that they arecompleted in a timely fashion. Performs other relatedduties as assigned.Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in life science, health professions orrelated field and at least four years of directly related research experienceworking with human subjects. An equivalent combination of education andexperience may be considered.Required skills and abilities:*Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency with MS OfficeSuite software programs.*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.*Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with adiverse constituent population.*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the abilityto work in a dynamic environment and to perform multiple taskssimultaneously.*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.*Ability to work independently and in a team environment.*Ability to travel to off-site locations that may not beaccessible via public transportation.*Ability to work evenings/weekends hours as needed.This position requires a background check.Compliance Statement: In the performance of their functions asdetailed in the position description employees have an obligation to avoidethical, legal, financial and other conflicts of interest to ensure that theiractions and outside activities do not conflict with their primary employmentresponsibilities at the institution.
