Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field Must have excellent communication skills, be a rapid learner, and have the capability to work autonomously, but also possess the courage to ask for help if it is needed. Job Description: Assist in implementing and monitoring security measures to safeguard computer networks and information. Support senior team members in assessing system vulnerabilities, proposing risk mitigation strategies, and implementing them. Ensure the maintenance of appropriate security controls to protect digital files and vital electronic infrastructure. Aid in responding to computer security breaches and viruses, guided by senior engineers. Participate in security event monitoring and correlation activities within a tiered Security Operations Center (SOC), while learning from and supporting senior team members. Assist in detecting and responding to IT security incidents using Cyber Network Defense (CND) analyst toolsets under the supervision of experienced engineers. Conduct research on threats, document their behaviors, and monitor updates from external Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs) and Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs). Support the team in providing recommendations for threat mitigation strategies. Assist in performing routine event reporting over time, including trend reporting and analysis. Desired qualifications: Understanding of the DoD Risk Management Framework. Experience with POA&M (Plan of Action and Management) Framework. Familiarity with eMASS (Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service) tool. Basic understanding of interpreting and applying DISA STIG/SRGs. Pursuing or holding entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or similar is advantageous.
