As a Infrastructure Architect, Sr within PNC's Infrastructure and Platform Architecture – Office of the CTO organization, you will be based in one of PNC's Technology hub office locations (Pittsburgh, PA, Phoenix, AZ, Cleveland, Ohio, Birmingham, AL or Dallas, Texas). Weekly time in the office is required.

As an Infrastructure and Platform Solutions Architect, you will be part of the Infrastructure and Platform Architecture team under the office of the CTO. Your will work with Solution Architects in the business MIS teams to help them design and deliver solutions that are aligned with approved delivery patterns and reference architectures. In addition, you will work with enterprise architecture and engineering teams to help engineer and align infrastructure and platform solutions with business MIS team requirements. As a trusted partner, you will consult, co-create, and document architecture designs that meet business and enterprise requirements. Teams will count on you to identify, document, and recommend improvements to proposed designs. Recommendations, tradeoffs, and opportunities for architecture enhancement, new technology, and reuse will be presented to architecture review forums and senior leadership as applicable.

Due to the nature of the position, we prefer candidates who have prior solution architecture experience. Preferred candidates will possess strong critical thinking skills, have broad technology experience, and demonstrate a high aptitude about solution design and architecture.

Job Description

  • Defines design patterns for a company's common technology architecture structure.

  • Develops and monitors the organization's technology architecture and plays a leading role in the vision and development of the company's future technology.

  • Ensures infrastructure designs and upgrades are made in accordance with established standards, patterns, policies, procedures and software licensing agreements.

  • Identifies and establishes best practices for technology architecture, while providing expert advice on core infrastructure initiatives.

  • Interprets technology requirements; designs technology architecture and drives the adoption.

ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) – Knowledge of and ability to apply ITIL processes and standards for managing the IT infrastructure.

Planning: Tactical, Strategic – Ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

Platform Architecture – Knowledge of technologies and methods to design processing mechanisms and roadmaps to execute business application systems; ability to design these roadmaps and deploy supportive interfaces for end-users to access related systems, in accordance with standards and processes.

Problem Solving – Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

Systems Software Infrastructure – Knowledge of software technology, and the ability to plan global, regional and local software architecture and infrastructure components.

The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) – Knowledge of and ability to use this universal framework released by 'The Open Group' to effectively plan, develop and govern enterprise architecture.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Industry relevant experience is typically 8+ years. Specific certifications are often required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
