University of Vermont Medical Group, NY LLC Facilities Grounds Supervisor - Facilities in Plattsburgh, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversees the maintenance of grounds including lawns, trees, shrubs, gardens, parking areas, roads, storm drains, snow removal, fencing, curbing, ponds, and associated areas. Provides supervision of Grounds personnel daily, including directing a departmental safety program, employee schedules, reoccurring projects, daily priorities, inspections, campus improvements, all aspects of fleet/equipment maintenance/repair and training of staff. Supervisor is expected to be on site during weather events impacting normal operating conditions. Responsible for assisting with hazardous material disposal and reporting, exterior building maintenance, site lighting, movement, and storage of CVPH furniture and equipment. Supervisor will solicit and direct outside vendors and services when necessary to complete project work. Oversees appropriate purchasing, receiving, stocking and disposal of supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for grounds maintenance and projects. Provides feedback and consults with the Director of Facilities to manage the Grounds budget. Supervisor will work with the Director to develop and implement 5-year capital plans for areas of responsibility.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Associate's degree in business management, Environmental Science or other Grounds related field or active enrollment within two (2) years is required.
2. Bachelor's degree in forestry, Environmental Biology, Arborist or Horticulture is preferred.
3. Certification from a trade school in Automotive Technology or Environmental Conservation may be considered.
4. Pesticide Applicator license/certification is preferred.
5. 5+ years of supervisory experience is preferred.
6. 5+ years of experience in logistics/warehouse management is preferred.
7. 5+ years of experience in managing grounds maintenance/snow removal processes is preferred.
8. Experience operating and maintaining various heavy equipment including tractors, loaders, back hoe's etc. is preferred.
9. Experience operating and maintaining lawn and landscaping maintenance equipment including various mowers, trimmers, saws, pruners, blowers, etc.
10. Strong interpersonal/human relations skills
11. Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
12. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
13. Ability to organize and prioritize duties.
14. Experience with Microsoft office products.
