Description

A prominent services company is looking to grow its team by hiring a Controller through Robert Half. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Plover, Wisconsin area.

What you get to do every day

  • Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

  • Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

  • Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

Requirements - Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Solid understanding of Internal Control

  • Proven knowledge of account reconciliation

  • Practical knowledge of Expense Reconciliation

  • Wide ranging experience with billing

  • Earlier work involving Asset Inventory

  • Well-founded grasp of Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation

  • Experience with budgeting

  • Quality experience with financial reconciliation

  • Deep understanding of Monthly Reporting

  • General familiarity with cash reconciliations

  • Financial statement preparation experience

  • Costing experience

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
