Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the accurate intake of patient demographics; obtaining reimbursable diagnosis/reason for service; obtaining of preauthorization of insurance provider as required. And ensure that proper ICD 10 and reason for visits are obtained, as assigned.

  2. Data entry, and occasional processing of specimens.

  3. Inventory record keeping and supplies as directed

  4. Dispensation of patient results.

  5. Train new employees.

  6. Perform mobile registration when necessary.

  7. Cross train to all laboratory registration areas.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required

  1. Knowledge of medical terminology, problem-solving techniques, strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, strong keyboarding and basic computer skills.

  2. Previous experience with hospital registration system and secretarial experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to function independently with minimal supervision. Possesses good decision-making skills and demonstrated ability to work under pressure, maintaining a helpful and courteous manner.

  3. Ability to type at 30 WPM.

Education Required

  1. Written and verbal English skills at 12th grade level; ability to perform statistical analysis at 12th grade level.
