Robert Half Payroll/HR Manager in Portland, Oregon


Charlie Gilmur with Robert Half is offering an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator to join his client located in Portland, Oregon. This role is central to our operations, primarily focusing on payroll administration, employee benefit management, and HR-related functions for employees nationwide.


• Administer medical, dental, vision, 401K, COBRA, and Employee Purchase Program benefits, including managing open enrollment periods.

• Oversee employee timecard management.

• Handle payroll updates including pay rate changes, premium deductions, garnishments, tax withholding updates, and personal data changes.

• Conduct payroll processing and reporting as requested by the management team via QuickBooks.

• Ensure payroll tax filing/compliance for 6 states.

• Manage employee on-boarding and off-boarding processes.

• Create, implement, and enforce company policies.

• Administer workers’ compensation and unemployment benefits.

• Maintain employee personnel files administration.

• Create and maintain Employee Handbook and all HR forms such as employment application, onboarding employee binder, rate increase, and job transfer forms.

• Handle all payroll and HR-related functions for all employees nationwide.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Knowledge of 401k - RRSP Administration

• Familiarity with Accounting Functions

• Understanding of Benefit Functions

• Experience with QuickBooks

• Proficiency in Full Cycle Payroll

• Experience in Payroll

• Knowledge of Multi-state Payroll

• Familiarity with Payroll Functions

Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for processing and analyzing payroll data

• Experience in 401k - RRSP Administration, ensuring employees' retirement plans are accurately maintained

• Understanding of Accounting Functions, including the ability to reconcile accounts and create financial reports

• Knowledge of Benefit Functions, including administering employee benefits and handling related queries

• Familiarity with QuickBooks for managing payroll and financial transactions

• Experience in Full Cycle Payroll, including processing timesheets, calculating wages, and issuing paychecks

• Ability to handle Payroll functions, including tax computations and ensuring compliance with payroll laws

• Experience in Multi-state Payroll, managing payroll for employees in multiple states

• Payroll Functions knowledge, including the ability to process garnishments and deductions, and manage year-end tasks such as W-2 preparation.
