Description

ACI Federal Inc. is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist to provide

support services in community support programs focused on individuals who are using

substances or their families/support persons. The Individual must have an understanding of,

and respect for, each individual's unique path to recovery. The Specialist must have a working

knowledge of the drug and alcohol treatment system and a demonstrated commitment to the

recovery community.

The Recovery Specialist's role is to support others in recovery from a substance use disorder.

The Recovery Specialist will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to

recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The

Recovery Specialist must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to

develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.

Specific Job Duties/Core Competencies

a. Provide a supportive environment to clients where you can identify and build on

strengths and enable them to empower themselves, recognizing that there are multiple

pathways to achieve recovery.

b. Develop an individualized plan directed toward the goals, hopes, and aspirations of the

client and respond to the specific needs that the client has identified.

c. Maintain project logs, reports and records in appropriate files and database(s).

d. Advocate on behalf of clients to seek wrap around services, protect the rights of the

client, and assist in reducing associated stigma. Train the client in the use of personal

and community resources.

e. Develop relationships with community groups/agencies in partnership with others in the

agency.

f. Work with staff and other community professionals to implement and promote

Harm Reduction activities in the community.

g. Develop, implement, and promote ongoing community training opportunities

h. Work in cooperation with the client's family members, other providers, and significant

others that are involved in the client's recovery plan.

i. Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and

developing strategies to overcome those barriers.

j. Observe all rules of confidentiality relating to clinical information and treatment, both

internally and when dealing externally with agencies and individuals.

k. Maintain professional conduct standards at all times.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED

Part or full time paid or voluntary work experience working with individuals who use substances

and/or their families.

Personal experience with substance use services.

Preferred Qualification: Certification as Certified Recovery Specialist
