Think Dutchess Alliance for Business The Compliance Associate in Poughkeepsie, New York

Position Overview: The Compliance Associate is a critical role responsible for the management, maintenance, and enforcement of compliance protocols across a diverse portfolio of agreements within the Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency (DCIDA) and Think Dutchess. This role involves detailed day-to-day operations focusing on data accuracy, legal adherence, and internal policy enforcement to ensure organizational integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance Management: Direct and ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including the Public Authorities Accountability Act and New York State General Municipal Law.

Data Verification and Reporting: Responsible for the collection, verification, and compilation of complex reports for both external oversight authorities and internal purposes. Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all reporting activities.

Client Compliance Verification: Verify and maintain client compliance with various agreements, including but not limited to employment, financials, subtenant arrangements, fee requirements, and sales tax filings.

Database and File Maintenance: Maintain and update project files within the agency's database. Prepare and distribute compliance-related correspondence to clients and conduct meetings to explain compliance requirements as necessary.

Compliance Analysis: Research, analyze, and review reports to identify trends in compliance, evaluate the effectiveness of current procedures, and recommend improvements.

Financial Management: Coordinate the collection and payment of Pilot payments, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions.

PARIS Reporting: Work closely with the Executive Director to compile and input data for PARIS reporting, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.

Policy Development and Enforcement: Develop, initiate, maintain, and revise policies and procedures to improve compliance and operational efficiency.

Stakeholder Communication: Assist in developing and delivering presentations to the Board of Directors and various internal committees. Maintain communication with subcontractors to monitor compliance with applicable regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance, or related field. Proven experience in a compliance role, preferably within a public authority or related organization. Strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations relevant to industrial development and public authorities. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency in database management and reporting tools. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
