U.S. Marine Corps CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR in Quantico, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR in the Installation and Environment Division of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO. Responsibilities You will conduct undercover operations. You will collect physical evidence through searches. You will conduct occasional patrols using motor vehicles, watercraft, and all-terrain vehicles. You will be required to develop and submit proper reports and provide testimony in state and federal courts. You will conduct interviews of victims and witnesses, perform routine interrogations of suspects, develop facts or resolution in the face of denials, and prepare typed statements or results of interview documentation. You will support outdoor recreation programs authorized by Sikes Act Improvement Act. You will account for outdoor recreational users and lead search and rescue missions as needed. You will coordinate with Federal, State and local enforcement authorities, and with other organizations inside and outside the Base for purposes of obtaining, securing, or exchanging factual information or testimony. You will apprehend, arrest, or detain all subjects suspected of violations of Federal, State, and local laws. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties:1) Conducting undercover operations and surveillance using audio and visual equipment; 2) Recognizing, developing, and presenting evidence to reconstruct events, sequences, time elements, relationships, responsibilities, legal liabilities, and conflicts of interest; 3) Interrogating suspects and interviewing witnesses to obtain statements; 4) Seizing contraband equipment and collecting evidence through search warrants and 5) Conducting law enforcement activities involving fish, wildlife, and cultural resources. This position may be eligible for Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP), Must meet requirements set forth in the LEAP Act of 1994. Annually, Criminal Investigators must work an average of 2 hours of unscheduled duty in excess of each regular workday to be eligible for LEAP, which is 25% of the annual base pay.
