JOB TITLE : Principal Buyer (Represented)

SALARY RANGE : $72,594.89 - $103,706.98

DEPT/DIV : Procurement & Logistics

SUPERVISOR : Director of Maintenance of Equipment

LOCATION : Jamaica, JCC Building

HOURS OF WORK : 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (7 1/2 hours/day)

SUMMARY :

Responsible to plan and monitor bids, quotations, and purchase orders. This position is also responsible for

coordinating vendor qualifications and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreements.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Prepare bid packages, develop new sources of supply and obtain bids.

  • Analyze vendor qualifications and prepare cost/price analysis.

  • Tabulate quotations, issue purchase orders and negotiate sole source and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) agreements.

  • Prepare MTA Board submittals.

  • Control high value, critical and sensitive procurements.

  • Perform other assignments as requested by Senior Management.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

    REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration or related field is required or demonstrated equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of the degree, subject to approval.

  • Must possess a minimum of four years in a Procurement & Logistics Department, including a minimum of two years as a Senior Buyer or other Supervisory Level.

  • Must possess extensive knowledge of procurement principles and techniques.

  • PREFERRED

  • Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) and/or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).
