Salary Placement and Work Hours:This is a 12-month, full-time position. Placement will be on the E5, Grade 6 Salary Schedule with a range of $28,271-$45,419, dependent on applicable work experience. Placement is determined by the President. The work week is Monday through Friday, and hours worked will be a minimum of 40 per week. Occasional weekend work may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Function:The primary function of this position is to perform general housekeeping duties as well as buildings and grounds maintenance as assigned. The custodial/maintenance employee is under the direct supervision of the Director of Physical Plant and the overall supervision of the NACC President. The employee must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College.

Duties and Responsibilities:The position of a custodial/maintenance employee requires the ability to follow instructions, the physical ability to perform strenuous manual labor (able to lift 50 pounds), complete assigned tasks, and clean buildings, which includes the following:

  1. Performs general building custodial/maintenance functions to include, but not limited to, washing windows; sweeping and mopping floors; stripping, buffing and waxing floors; and other general custodial and maintenance as assigned by the supervisor and/or President
  2. Pays particular attention to the cleanliness and sanitation of all buildings and restrooms in assigned work areas as well as entrances and areas surrounding the buildings
  3. Paints inside and outside buildings as assigned
  4. Performs grounds maintenance work such as mowing grass, planting shrubs and flowers, and keeping an assigned area litter free
  5. Reports to supervisor any item in need of repair and corrects or reports safety hazards
  6. Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor and/or President

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds isrequired
  2. Prolonged standing/walking/lifting/stooping/bending isrequired
  3. Knowledge of use of cleaning supplies
  4. Skill in operating equipment/machinery such as buffer and lawn mower
  5. Organizational skills to plan work to be completed within required time frame
  6. Ability to work independently and on teams
  7. Ability to work professionally and courteously with employees, students, and visitors on campus
  8. Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings, as needed to cover custodial and maintenance needs of the institution for special events
  9. General knowledge of the functions of the College to direct visitors to the appropriate office
  10. Skill and experience in painting

Minimum Required Education, Training and/or Experience:

  1. One year experience in above type work ispreferred
  2. Possession of a valid drivers lic nse isrequired

Applications for the position will be reviewed to determine (1) if they are complete and (2) if the applicant meets the minimum qualifications required of the position. Interviews are then scheduled at the Presidents discretion and will be conducted in person or through a web-interface such as Zoom, Skype, or Microsoft Teams. Applicants will be required to participate in an interview at their own expense. Official transcripts will be required of the finalist chosen for employment by the President.
