Salary Placement and Work Hours:This is a 12-month, full-time position. Placement will be on the C3 Salary Schedule with a range of $51,581 to $101,034, dependent on education and applicable work experience. Placement is determined by the President. The work week is Monday through Friday, and hours worked will be a minimum of 40 per week. Occasional weekend work may be required.

Work Location: DeKalb County Entrepreneurial Center in DeKalb County, Alabama

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Function:The Entrepreneurial Center Executive Director will manage the day-to-day operations of the DeKalb County Entrepreneurial Center (E-Center); create and implement strategic plans to actualize the E-Centers objectives, achievements, and quarterly goals; and communicate the E-Centers purpose to the surrounding communities. This employee answers directly to the President and must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System and Northeast Alabama Community College.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Execute E-Center programs to satisfaction
  2. Collaborate with the College President and the Entrepreneurial Center Board of Directors to identify, create, and implement strategic plans to actualize the E-Centers objectives, achievements, and quarterly goals.
  3. Represent the E-Center at business and social events in the surrounding communities in ways to strengthen goals and communicate the E-Centers mission.
  4. Execute the E-Centers three pillars:
    1. Educate Pillar: Create and implement the E-Centers Educate programs that will collaborate and partner with the Fort Payne City school system, DeKalb County school system, Northeast Alabama Community College, Jacksonville State University, Auburn University, the University of Alabama, and other universities workforce and entrepreneurship development efforts.
    2. Equip Pillar: Create and implement the E-Centers Equip programs that provide the appropriate tools, training, and resources to encourage entrepreneurship in DeKalb County for business creation, ownership, or existing business expansion. Partner with and become certified, if necessary, with programs such as SCORE, the International Business Innovation Association, and the Small Business Administration.
    3. Empower Pillar: Create and implement the E-Centers Empower programs that provide men, women, and veteran entrepreneurs the tools and training they need to succeed with their business creations. This E-Center pillar will also provide outreach, training, and tools for those re-entering the workforce regardless of race, age, or ability.
  5. Manage the E-Centers budget monthly with QuickBooks.
  6. Conduct marketing and outreach to the community, promoting the pillars and programs of the E-Center by supporting, collaborating, and partnering with community resources such as Chambers of Commerce, the Economic Development Association, local companies, and non-profit organizations.
  7. Measure pillar programs Return on Investment (ROI) successes and completions and create and maintain additiona ROI measures established for future success.
  8. Attend professional development that is meaningful to the position and to the E-Center, including, but not limited to
    1. Government and Economic Development Institute: Intensive Economic Development Training Course at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Topics include, workforce development, community development fundamentals, Business Retention and Expansion, Small Business and Entrepreneurship Development, Economic Development Ethics, Alabama Government and Economic Development, Rural Development Strategies and much more.
    2. Economic Development Association of Alabama (EDAA) Summer and Winter Conferences: Typically a three-day conference held in Point Clear, Alabama, allowing all participants in Alabamas economic development professionals to network with peers, hear from the Governor, and understand legislative issues.
    3. ARC Appalachian Leadership: Includes skill-building seminars and best practice reviews, economic development training in public, private and non-profit sectors.
      1. Partnership Certification travel for programs such as SCORE, EDAA, and INBIA
      2. Other professional development opportunities requested by the President or the E-Center Board of Directors
  9. Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northeast Alabama Community College
  10. Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the President
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Effective oral and written communication skills arerequired
  2. Extensive knowledge of and proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite programs isrequired
  3. Proficient use of Quickbooks ispreferred
  4. Strategic thinking and analytical skills
  5. Financial accounting proficiency
  6. Effective human relation and networking skills, including professionalism, enthusiasm, and commitment to making community connections
  7. Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  8. Possess a strong work ethic, be dependable, and adaptable to change
  9. Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission
  10. Ability to compose and prepare accurate reports, records, and correspondence
  11. Demonstrate skill in organization
  12. Ability to work professionally with clients, community organizations, students, college employees, and the public
  13. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  14. Ability to travel for institutional and E-Center support assignments and to conduct business when necessary
  15. Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and possible additional hours to support the E-Center mission and other job responsibilities

MinimumRequired Education, Training and/or Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution isrequired; Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred; A degree with business-related coursework is preferred
  2. Project management experience isrequired
  3. Event planning experience is preferred
