Financial Services Risk Management, Non-Financial Risk Controls – Senior Manager: This position could be located in NY (primary), NC.

The opportunity

Focus on helping domestic and global financial services institutions with issues of risk management with a focus on control design, control effectiveness assessment, and optimization the risk controls framework across the three lines of defense, in support of our client’s business strategies. Senior Managers can expect to work in a leading-edge environment surrounded by some of the most engaging and knowledgeable colleagues in the business who have deep risk management, regulatory, governance and monitoring experience.

Your key responsibilities

Building relationships is the key. You will be a high-profile contact when it comes to motivating client engagement teams with diverse skills and backgrounds by fostering an innovative and inclusive team-orientated work environment. As you build knowledge and experience, you will become a credible advisor to consultants within the organization as well as the clients.

  • Leading large-scale client engagements while consistently delivering quality client services within expected time frames and budgets

  • Generation of new business opportunities for the Non-Financial Risk Controls practice to develop long-term client relationships, understand the changing business and regulatory environment, and actively assessing/presenting ways to serve clients

  • Developing client proposals, project approach, work plans, resource estimates, and cost estimates on client opportunities and pursuits

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Economics or a related field and 10 years of progressive, post-bachelors work experience in financial risk management. Alternatively, must have a master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related field and 8 years of work experience in financial risk management

  • 8 years of risk management experience within banking and capital markets, asset management, or insurance industries, with a specific focus on enterprise risk management, an understanding of the risk management life cycle, topics of risk governance, and internal controls

  • Deep knowledge of a range of financial products (derivatives, equities, fixed income, etc.)

  • Deep knowledge of financial and/or regulatory processes, key controls and reconciliations, starting from transaction capture to aggregation/consolidation to financial and regulatory reporting

  • Regulatory knowledge and industry insight that can be applied to serve clients within the context of enterprise risk. This includes direct knowledge of key regulations, including the Enhanced Prudential Standards, Heightened Standards, Basel, Dodd-Frank including (Stress testing and CCAR), and the resulting implications to enterprise risk governance requirements

  • Experience developing and maintaining a risk management control framework

  • Experience in setting up, execution, and oversight of control testing programs. This includes knowledge of various control types, test approaches, sampling methodologies, analyzing evidence and test results to identify control weakness, and defining action plans to remediate controls weaknesses

  • 6 years of risk management experience at a consulting firm (including current state/future-state assessments, business process redesign, and target operating models) OR in a second line of defense risk management or risk management project role within the financial services industry

  • A willingness and ability to travel both nationally and internationally to meet client needs. A passport and valid drivers’ license are required.

Ideally, you will also have

  • Prior consulting experience with a Big 4 firm or large global financial institution

  • One or more of the following certifications: CFA, CPA, FRM, or APRM

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $123,600 to $282,300. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $148,300 to $320,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
