Red Hat System Engineering Lead - Red Hat Ecosystem Engineering in Raleigh, North Carolina

Responsible for providing technical leadership and contributions to strategic 5G and next generation telco service provider offerings and solutions. Work closely with partners in Red Hat's partner ecosystem, peer groups in Ecosystem Engineering, Red Hat product and sales teams, and in open-source communities and standards bodies.

*Telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S.

What You Will Do:

  • Participate in project activities that include lab planning and producing the related deliverables required to build end-to-end solution lab environments for testing and life cycle management of vertically integrated telco solutions, like 5G or software defined networking (SDN).

  • Lead the activities around installation, commissioning, integration, and testing of end-to-end telco lab equipment covering all telco domains like cloud-native RAN (vCU, vDU, vRU), 5G Core, operations support system (OSS) or management and orchestration (MANO) as well as various test equipment and other relevant tooling.

  • Contribute to Red Hat solutions lab operations and maintenance related tasks like lab usage and reservation systems, asset management and tracking as well as continuous improvement and change management of the lab documentation and test configurations of the telco solutions.

  • Identify the inputs required for planning, implementation and maintenance of a new telco solution verification and validation lab.

  • Produce the required project plans and detailed technical documentation that are required for the buildout and maintenance of the lab.

  • Identify further lab investment needs together with the solution technical leads and develop lab policies and guidelines with other stakeholders.

  • Collaborate within and across Red Hat teams to identify feature gaps, specify, and realize telco service provider features and solutions.

  • Contribute to proof of concepts using Red Hat platforms and partner workloads.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Communication Systems or related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related role.

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with telecommunications system;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with radio access system;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with integration and verification of telecommunication systems;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with telecommunication systems troubleshooting;

  • Must have five (5) years of experience with telecommunication documentation;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with telecommunication systems deployment;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with telecommunication systems upgrade;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with telecommunication systems test tools.

  • Domestic travel required 20% of the time to company facilities. Travel expenses covered by Red Hat, Inc.

The salary range for this position is $151,986 - $238,650. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
