Summary This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER (HAZMAT), Position Description Number NGD1908000 and is part of the USPFO-Warehouse. This is a permanent Title 32, excepted service position. AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: - All members of the South Dakota Army National Guard or those eligible to join. Responsibilities As a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER (HAZMAT), WG-6912-07, you will: These positions are in the United States Property and Fiscal Office (USPFO). The purpose of this position is to identify, examine and classify materiel and equipment and make final determinations on acceptance and disposition of standardized and complex equipment and materiel using shipping documents, contracts, catalogs, drawings, and related documents. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military position in the following MOS/AOC with 90 days. Soldiers in the grade of PVT to CW2 are eligible to apply Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full-time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to distinguish between closely related or similar items, ability to follow procedures, ability to sort materials by type, and skill in the use of hand tools. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 12 months experience or training identifying and sorting a variety of complex materials and equipment. Experience receiving materials and equipment, recording, and placing items in proper storage areas. Experience preparing all items for shipment using appropriate agency instructions. Experience in mathematical equations. Experience interpreting and using Federal Supply Catalogs, military and manufacturing catalogs, and technical and agency manuals. Experience using and operating forklifts and motor vehicles. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. This document will be used to determine the PAY GRADE to which an applicant may qualify. Knowledge of specialized handling, storing, disposal, and safety procedures related to hazardous materials to ensure adherence to governing regulatory guidance, policies and procedures. Knowledge of Federal, State, DoD, OSHA and EPA rules/regulations sufficient to control, oversee, coordinate and implement the facility Hazardous Materials Management Program. Knowledge of warehouse activities to include receiving, inspecting for defects, storing, selecting and shipping general or specialized equipment and supplies and the techniques used in the examination and classification of standard/non standard, unusual, highly specialized items. Knowledge of inventory and production reports to screen and identify shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies, and direct shipments to shipping or storage areas. Knowledge of computer commands and controls to make data entries, updates data and retrieve reports.
