Microsoft Corporation Network Sourcing Strategy Lead in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

Cloud Sourcing, Spares, Sustainability & Security (CS4) organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers. Well-defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable on-time performance, optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. As the Network Sourcing Strategy Lead , you will provide thought leadership and manage strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support cloud supply chain objectives and strategies. You will also establish an appropriate sourcing and supply chain strategy with relevant partners to drive long-term goals of Technology Adoption, COS (Continuity of Supply), Cost, Quality, Business Health and Sustainability. Additionally, you will lead Network Sourcing key strategic deliverables and organizational planning to enable Azure Cloud growth.

Responsibilities

Sourcing Management

  • Own engagement model with cross- functional leadership including Network architecture, engineering, quality, and business teams to determine best design solution and supply base to deliver that solution at optimal SC, COS, and cost.

  • Partner with sourcing managers and product engineering teams on developing and delivery of the Ethernet hardware roadmap, as well as other high visibility technology developments.

  • Innovate business models to deliver best cloud solutions.

Sourcing Operations

  • Build and enable ecosystem and multi-sourcing strategies to mitigate risk and drive appropriate competition.

  • Build and enable supply chain strategies to enable COS, favorable terms, and investment optimization.

  • Run weekly, monthly, quarterly reviews with team on cost and operations KPIs. Continuous improvement of all critical areas around supply, mfg., cost, etc.

Supplier Management

  • Run critical Rhythm of Business (ROB) such as Executive Business reviews (EBRs, MBRs, QBRs).

  • Ensure supplier compliance with Microsoft ESG and Cloud Security requirements.

  • Lead team and organizational planning, key contributor to team goals and KPIs.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 6+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 12+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR Doctorate in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 5+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in sourcing, supply chain, strategy and/or operations.

  • Extensive experience in leading cross functional teams.

  • Knowledge of Datacenter and/or Cloud infrastructure.

  • Solid communication and synthesizing skills of both written and verbal.

  • Influencing skills and ability to build lasting relationships across multiple layers in the organization.

  • Extensive knowledge of hardware sourcing and supply chain and demonstrated track record in supplier negotiation and management.

Sourcing Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
