Microsoft Corporation Technical Program Manager II in Redmond, Washington

Are you passionate about cloud computing, large scale distributed systems engineering problems and working on bleeding edge technology at massive scale?

The Microsoft Azure Storage Engineering team is looking for a Technical Program Manager II to work on a unique and highly visible role with major scope to drive programs to enhance our software infrastructure to improve our platform reliability and scalability. You will be responsible for working with software engineering teams on product requirements, design and establishing and managing program schedules for large scale Azure Storage software infrastructure programs to improve scalability and reliability of the service. You will have the opportunity to solve some of the toughest problems in hyperscale cloud platforms, identify and recommend business investments in a broad range of technical areas, and integrate with multiple partner teams inside Microsoft Azure as well as across the company.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with Software and Hardware Engineering to design technical solutions. You’ll also identify risks and propose data-based mitigations.

  • You’ll define success criteria as you collaborate with others to implement features for cross-functional projects. You’ll coordinate and ensure alignment across teams.

  • With minimal supervision, you will help deliver on roadmap for feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation, and stay updated with governance programs.

  • You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and partnering with other departments to collect performance metrics. You’ll also contribute to customer support and participate in direct customer engagements.

  • You will have the opportunity to solve some of the toughest problems in hyperscale storage platforms, identify and recommend business investments in a broad range of technical areas, and integrate with multiple partner teams inside Microsoft Azure as well as across the company.

  • You will analyze large sets of data and use pragmatic technical judgment to assess and make the right business decisions.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos)

  • Hands on experience with software lifecycle management

  • Good understanding of cloud computing technologies (Azure, AWS or GCP) 

  • Track record of delivering features and capabilities for complex software systems that meet evolving business requirements

  • Demonstrated cross group collaboration with the ability to influence and drive change cross groups

  • Knowledge of data analytics

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Experience with Software Defined Networking would be a plus

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
