PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $27.40-$33.46 hourly. The full Pay Range is $21.25-$39.57 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Fraud Prevention and Detection Analyst at BECU, your keen attention to detail and proactive approach will help safeguard members from fraudulent activities. You’ll be the frontline defense, analyzing high-risk transactions, preventing fraud across a variety of financial products, and directly impacting BECU’s commitment to member security. In this role, you’ll use your expertise to quickly detect suspicious activities, interact with members to protect their assets, and collaborate with internal teams to solve complex fraud cases. Your contributions will not only enhance fraud prevention processes but also empower BECU to build stronger, safer financial pathways for its members.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Monitor and Investigate: Leverage fraud management systems and reports to closely monitor financial activities and detect suspicious behavior across various product lines.

  • Engage with Members: Proactively initiate contact with members to review suspicious activities, taking appropriate actions to mitigate risks and secure their assets.

  • Collaborate with Teams: Assist our Contact Center and Retail partners by providing timely and effective support on fraud-related situations, fostering a collaborative environment.

  • Manage Confirmed Fraud Cases: Use the right tools and procedures to initiate and manage cases related to confirmed fraudulent activities, ensuring swift and accurate case handling.

  • Provide Insightful Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analysis of fraud cases, delivering clear and detailed reports to the appropriate teams for resolution.

  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Utilize your knowledge of the business, products, and processes to suggest and implement improvements that enhance fraud prevention efforts.

  • Stay Updated on Regulations: Maintain a deep understanding of laws and regulations concerning financial crimes, such as Regulation E, Regulation Z, and Regulation CC, ensuring compliance.

  • Be a Team Player: Take on additional duties as assigned by leadership, showcasing your flexibility and willingness to contribute to BECU’s mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent work or educational experience required.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a fraud prevention/detection environment within a financial services setting.

  • General knowledge of Regulation E, Regulation Z, and Regulation CC.

  • Proficient PC skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification preferred.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, using sound discretion in decision-making.

  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate and provide excellent customer service.

  • Organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks.
