Job Responsibilities/Duties

The Technical Specialist provides technical leadership and guidance consistent with established values, goals and mission expectations in support of Production Operations Technical Support. Job responsibilities favor a self-directed individual capable of formulating technically defendable reports, independent decisions on operations issues and represents the Production Operations Central Shift Office.

Additionally, the Technical Specialist will support the Tank Side Cesium Removal (TSCR) Operations Manager with managing the day to day TSCR operational activities and coordinating maintenance activities with the Direct Feed Low Activity Waste (DFLAW) Team. This position will be responsible for TSCR procedure development and incorporating changes as needed. The Technical Specialist will need to interface with TSCR/Waste Feed Delivery (WFD) Engineering, NS&L & ESH&Q organizations for all matters pertaining to TSCR/WFD.

The specific duties and responsibilities of the Technical Specialist include but are not limited to:

-Develop and manage schedules and coordinates resources to ensure uninterrupted operations to meet company milestones.

-Develop, maintain & support continuous operations at the Central Shift office and TSCR facility.

-Lead Authorization Basis/Documented Safety Analysis in-field implementation and compliance.

-Provide technical support as needed to Production Operations for issue resolution and tracking and trending.

-Involved with corrective action management activities.

-Conduct or support root/apparent cause analysis report development.

-Review activities of Production Operations line organizations, direct and monitor implementation of plans for improved safety, efficiency, and productivity.

-Maintain the TSCR Facility within Technical and Environmental Safety Requirements

-Develop, maintain & support continuous improvements to the TSCR Facility.

-Comply with Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) policies and procedures.

-Ensure Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) Principles are incorporated into organization's activities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Project Management or related field and a minimum of 12 years experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Technical understanding of the TSCR Facility and operational parameters.

Ability to obtain the Operational Engineer Qualification with knowledge of Documented Safety Analysis (DSA), Technical Safety Requirements (TSR) and Authorization Basis (AB) background.

Desired candidate qualifications would include previous Hanford operations/maintenance/assurance systems experience with proven ability to communicate effectively with subject matter experts, peers, management, HAMTC, support organizations ORP, DNFSB Staff, regulators, and stakeholders.

A demonstrated career progression of increased roles and responsibilities in a technical, operations, engineering or maintenance organization desired with the ability to obtain/maintain qualifications and/or certifications for Operations Engineer.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to write effectively, edit or review technical documents. Demonstrated skills as an advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Desired qualifications favor a candidate with the ability to evaluate complex processes, interpret and understand technical information from multiple sources, and analyze data/issues in development of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
