Responsibilities
REPORTS TO:
Senior Director of Alumni Engagement
OVERVIEW:
The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for strategizing and implementing effective alumni engagement communications and programs, working closely with the Senior Director. This role involves partnering with the Senior Director in developing and executing a strategic plan for all alumni. The Associate Director will be responsible for overseeing a handful of regional networks and their work will largely be focused on recent graduates and current students. The position emphasizes event planning and communications, ensuring operational excellence, accuracy, and timely donor stewardship, specifically when there is a link between alumni gifts and current students.
The primary objective is to enhance engagement and connectivity among alumni, students, and friends of the School. Key goals include volunteer management, improving alumni survey results, increasing giving participation rates, boosting event attendance, enhancing communication responses, and other critical metrics. Additionally, the Associate Director will manage all student engagement events organized by Simon Advancement, including the class gift campaign, student lectures, and various networking, philanthropy education, and graduation events.
This role requires occasional travel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Alumni Events and Communications (40%)
Event Execution : Manage events of various sizes and objectives from conception to post-event in coordination with the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement and in alignment with organizational goals. Responsibilities include:
Articulation of event objectives and goals
Logistics such as venue, catering, AV
List generation and invitation design and coordination
Expense and budget tracking
Coordination of speakers and content
Preparation of leadership and staff briefings
Back-end management in OASIS, iModules, RAX, and Intranet
On-site event management and post-event analysis
Alumni Communication: Oversee and manage all communication activities in the Simon Advancement office, including the relationship between Simon and Advancement Communications. Responsibilities include:
Executing messages from the Dean, Simon Advancement, school leadership, and school news via email
Facilitating ranking survey emails, collection of alumni information updates, and communications to Simon Regional Network Leaders
Developing social media strategies for events and volunteer engagement
Recent Graduate and Simon Student Engagement (20%)
Design and implement programs and events that engage recent graduates and students, reinforcing lifelong connectedness to Simon and philanthropic education. Events include, but are not limited to:
New Student Orientation events
Opening Doors

Student Lectures
Graduation events
Management of annual class gift campaign(s) for MBAs and MS classes
Simon Volunteer Management (20%)
Simon Women’s Alliance: Serve as the Simon Advancement liaison, collaborating with the SWA Board and Chair on meetings, communications, and volunteer activities. Advise the Events and Programs and Membership committees, coordinating key SWA programs such as the Conference, Circles Program, Roll Call, and Workshops. Foster partnerships between SWA and the Simon Women in Business (SWiB) student organization.
Simon Regional Networks : Develop and execute Simon’s comprehensive regional engagement strategy for top priority markets. Responsibilities include:
Collaborating with the Simon Advancement team, Simon colleagues, Regional Network Leader volunteers, and UR Advancement
Coordinating and implementing a Regional Network Leader training program and bi-annual update calls
Establishing an annual Simon regional engagement plan, tracking activity and progress toward program goals and metrics
Assisting Regional Network Leaders in developing plans and managing budgets for their regional network, focusing on Simon's annual signature events and networking receptions
Simon Alumni Volunteer Tracking Work with Simon campus partners to manage Simon Advancement’s alumni tracking process and coordinate weekly volunteer coding
Supporting the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement with additional volunteer management responsibilities and boards (e.g. SAC, SAB, EDI Council, and China Advisory Council.)
Supervision of a Full-Time Program Assistant (10%)
- Oversee the hiring, supervision, and performance appraisal of the full-time Program Assistant of Alumni Engagement.
Donor Stewardship and Reporting (5%)
- Assist with stewardship outreach, run regular reports, and proof for accuracy against the database of record.
Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience in alumni relations, event planning, development, project management, volunteer management, or comparable experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Skills:
Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with various constituent groups, colleagues, volunteers, and campus partners
Demonstrated ability to work with, motivate, and lead volunteers
Ability to gather, condense, and synthesize information, providing accurate analysis and summaries
Excellent organizational, project management, and proofreading skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with keen attention to detail
Willingness to travel occasionally and work some evenings and weekends
A personal belief in the mission, goals, and objectives of private higher education
Preferred Background:
Experience directing advancement activities and working with donors and alumni leaders
General knowledge of institutional fundraising
Experience managing volunteer and/or volunteer leadership boards
Some international knowledge, particularly of China, to help the School build its international alumni program

Pay Range
Pay Range: $60,431 - $84,603 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
