Job Responsibilities:

As an IT Manager within the ITS Project Management Office, you will spend approximately 50% of your time managing PMO staff and the remainder of your time managing IT projects, products and / or programs.

  • Manage a team of employees who exercises latitude and independence in their assignments including individual objectives, work assignments / prioritization / quality, performance monitoring and appraisals, and development.

  • Contribute to the leadership of the PMO in partnership with the PMO Director. Plan, organize, and, implement PMO team strategy. May be asked to make moderate to significant improvements to processes, guidelines or outcomes to enhance the performance of level of the PMO team.

  • Direct operations and activities as well as determine priorities and direction of work of your team.

  • Participate as a member of the ITS Leadership team.

  • Use influence, and active persuasion to gain cooperation of others to support work area and department objectives.

  • Influence others outside of the PMO on policies, practices and procedures.

  • Lead RIT initiatives; manage IT projects; lead IT programs; oversee IT products, implement and improve ITS services.

  • Lead, facilitate, and support change across the University by identifying, evaluating and leading opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Required Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

  • 7 years of experience in IT project management, including 3 or more years of experience leading customer facing IT projects (software development and infrastructure).

  • 3 years IT program, product and / or managerial experience.

Skills

  • Demonstrated experience leading large, cross functional, programs or products

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to present to all levels of the organization

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively lead a team

  • Strong group facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution skills

  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, risk and issue management skills

  • Proven experience in cross-organizational project management, communication, and conflict resolution

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and translate requirements between business and technical teams

Preferred Qualifications:

Organizational change management experience.
