HCR Home Care Staff Accountant - Full-time In Office in Rochester, New York

Role and Responsibilities : The Staff Accountant provides accounting support to maintain the highest level of accuracy and timeliness of financial data in the performance of health care and corporate activities under generally accepted accounting principles

Essential Functions

  • Assist with HCR’s general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP. Recording journal entries and analyzing account balances to ensure accuracy of postings.

  • Prepare Weekly Productivity and Census Reports to send to Senior Leadership Team.

  • Assist with Design and prepare financial statements and ensure accuracy of financial reporting.

  • Prepare schedules required for the annual audit by independent CPA firm . Liaison with auditors during audits.

  • Assist with the formulation of the annual budgets by division for the upcoming fiscal year . Maintain direct and indirect budget files.

  • Design and analyze annual cost report data for submission to federal and state government agencies. Work with auditors answering questions and providing data related to cost reports.

  • Balance sheet account reconciliation

  • Prepare year end census information on 401K and ESOP. Work with third party administrators finalizing results.

  • Responsible for sending 401k withholding and other employee deductions actuarily and timely .

  • Maintain data for NYS Statistical Reports.

  • Assist in Special Projects and perform other duties as requested by management.

    Education Requirements

    A minimum of an Associates degree in Accounting combined with relevant experience . Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred.

    Qualifications and Requirements

  • Two plus years of accounting and financial experience with financial analysis, financial reporting, financial closure, budgeting and forecasting.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and accounting software.

  • Experience with ADP and Sage 100 preferred.

  • Strong with data analysis and forecasting.

  • Well organized with the ability to prioritize.

  • Good communication and ability to create strong working relationships across teams.

    Work Environment

    The Staff Accountant is primarily in an office setting and may be exposed to outdoor conditions.

    The working conditions are classified as sedentary work:

  • Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
