Jewish Senior Home LWCC Staff Development (RN) Educator- Part Time in Rochester, New York


QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: Current New York State license as Registered Nurse is required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing, nursing education or related field preferred.


  • Assesses learning needs, and identifies development opportunities.

  • Designs and delivers training to staff across the organization.

  • Evaluates reviews and revises existing educational offerings. Initiates additional activities in order

to meet changing needs.

  • Acts as a resource person and consultant for all staff members on teaching methods and materials.

  • Utilizes a variety of training techniques, methods to instruct training participants and enhance

the learning experience.

  • Acts as an internal consultant in the development and utilization of evaluation tools.

  • Develops relationships with community agencies and organizations as well as universities and colleges.

  • Assists in planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating training for palliative care

and other programs as assigned.


  • Assists with clinical quality assurance activity as assigned

  • Assists with training for families and residents throughout the campus

  • Assists in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating community-wide educational programs.

  • Participates in formal and informal educational experiences that will enhance self-development and

ensures updated knowledge and expertise.

  • Serves as member of or consultant to organization committees as assigned.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, ideally at least one of which must be in acute care. Minimum of one (1) year teaching/ instruction design experience.

RELATION TO OTHER POSITIONS: Daily contact with and ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, families, health care providers and community service agencies.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: Sits 0-25% of the day. Lifts 20-50 pounds. Frequent twisting, bending, squatting, walking, pushing and pulling. Works on level surfaces and uneven surfaces. May have to respond to resident or equipment emergencies. May have to drive a van or bus. May have to frequently climb stairs and/or a ladder. Must be able to communicate clearly in written and oral form . Must have ability to handle unanticipated emergent resident care and clinical training needs to support staff. Physical work intensity level 3

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works in well-lighted, ventilated office, as well as throughout the organization.

ADVERSE WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to infections, disease and disagreeable odors. May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents and family members.

VARIABLES: This position requires some travel for special training workshops and some flexibility in work hours to ensure education and training is offered and delivered to staff on all shifts.
