Position Summary

This role assists in the development of the category strategy as well as steers and supports the customer category plan for Frozen Meals, Frozen Snacks, Frozen Pizza & Frozen Plant Based.


Category Strategy

  • Work with the Commercial Development or Market Development Organization Director to develop Category Roadmaps, planograms, and Category Action Plans

  • Activate Category Growth Solutions and use them to develop and activate channel-specific Category Business Plans (with a category-first approach)

  • Support strategic direction based on category strategy and quantitative feedback

  • Define Customer Category structure, roles, strategy and tactics

  • Develop Implementation Calendar

  • Create and maintain the Category 101 document (Division Category only)

Customer Strategy

  • Partner with the CAMs and CD to develop Customer Category plans, working to align key stakeholders

  • Apply a strong focus on category assortment and merchandising

  • Uncover and develop key insights in partnership with CAM's

  • Develop and deliver presentations to communicate opportunities and issues

  • Interact with the customer to present the Category Summary to establish Nestlé’s Category centricity

  • Create and maintain the Retailer 101

Win at Retail

  • Develop the key merchandising strategy to create a gold standard planogram

  • Monitor plan execution and Category Scorecard results

  • Oversee execution of planograms and collect customer feedback for the Division CM to inform improvement

  • Work with Retail Sales to understand retail shelf and in-store environment

Develop Valued Capabilities

  • Develop and deliver key analysis, information and insights

  • Leverage Nestlé market strategy and insights to find innovative solutions

  • Accelerate Retailer-specific advanced analytic initiatives

  • Improve efficiency and insights through automation of tools

  • Provide input to the strategic category planning process

  • Use Data Analytics and Consumer & Marketplace Intelligence to gather Shopper and Market Insights & Trends, Account Performance and Competitive Performance analysis to inform actions

  • Work with the Data & Reporting Team for standardized reports, insights and growth opportunities


  • University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and 7+ years related work experience

  • Advanced Skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Working understanding of the planogram creation process, including JDA Prospace experience or equivalent. Can create new POG’s from scratch or alter existing POG’s based on market trends

  • Demonstrated knowledge of business-driving technology and industry insights

  • Knowledge of core business processes, internal relationships, and operating models for key classes of trade

  • Understanding of CAP guidelines and Category Roadmaps

  • Knowledge of tools: Business Process Maps, Nielsen Answers, Consumer Panel Data (Spectra) and Nielsen

  • Understanding CPG strategies vs. private label

  • Knowledge of new "Develop Category Growth" model that identifies category opportunity gaps with key retailers


  • Business strategy experience creating and presenting growth solutions at multiple levels

  • Move through manager level roles to strengthen business experience, gaining an understanding of store-level sales and Nestlé portfolio

  • Analyst or Manager on an account team or with a data partner

  • Database management understanding a plus
