Under the supervision of an RN, theNurse Externperforms basic patient care activities.

*Essential Functions: *

• Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient reassessments and treatments.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas. Requests maintenance and biomed services in a timely manner.
• Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Assists with postmortem care including transport to the morgue.
• Assists staff in ensuring that patient's valuables and personal items are properly handled, secured, and accounted for.
• Documents allergies in RED in appropriate areas.
• Min 24 hours per month but can work as much as needed.
• Willing to float throughout the hospital.

Minimum Education: * High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Required Skills: * Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. * Computer skills. * EMR experience preferred. * Medical Technology preferred.

*Certifications: *

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Handle with care required within 3 months of hire.
• Licenses: Current NC Certified Nursing Assistant certification

Minimum Work Experience: * 1 year preferred. * Must be enrolled in RN Program.
