Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to provide a variety of mental health services that may include initial intake assessments evaluations therapy including individual family and groups crisis intervention and linkages and referrals to appropriate services. This position uses only therapeutic procedures approved by the Manager adherence to the W & I Codes and professional and ethical behavior at all times. Some driving may be required for this position.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to time and attendance policy. Utilizes work time efficiently through proper time management shows flexibility in work schedule so that it meets clinic client and teams needs contributes to the efficiency of the office by completingtasks in a timely manner so that other team members can complete their tasks. Participates in problem solving ways toovercome barriers interfering with effective work.

  • Demonstrates an ability to assess a situation consider alternatives select and implement an appropriate and tactfulcourse of action.

  • Demonstrates an awareness of own abilities and limitations; seeks assistance when appropriate (i.e. when a situationappears unmanageable feels uncomfortable or is new).

  • Progress notes case documentation and other required paperwork are completed accurately and submitted on time.

  • Provides expected amount of billable services as established by specific program (County Contracted Programs) ORprovides expected number of direct face-to-face client sessions per week.

  • Ability to conduct initial client interview in a professional competent manner. Ability to obtain intake history organize and concisely restate presenting issues discuss informed consent legal limits of confidentiality cancellation and no-show policy scope of practice commitment to therapy agreement on time frame.

  • Ability to assess and stabilize crisis issues including Legal/Ethical issues:

  • Management of crisis phone calls

  • Client dangerous to others/Tarasoff

  • Client dangerous to self/suicidal

  • Client gravely disabled

  • Involuntary hospitalization

  • Reporting Child abuse

  • Reporting dependent adult and elder abuse

  • Dual relationships/boundaries

  • Manage transference/counter-transference

  • Ability to manage treatment:

  • Ability to conceptualize and formulate hypothesis

  • Ability to diagnose utilizing DSM V five axis format

  • Ability to develop a concise treatment plan with measurable goals

  • Ability to maintain clinical documentation:

  • Assessment is thoroughly documented and incorporates all pertinent information

  • Diagnosis is clearly substantiated throughout documentation

  • Diagnosis symptoms and treatment goals and interventions are congruent throughout progress notes

  • Clinical documentation is accurate concise thorough and legible

  • Accurate timely and adequate completion of crisis/high risk management documentation

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as Marriage and Family Therapist Intern Associate Clinical Social Worker or Psychological Assistant. Clinical Social Worker Psychological Assistant or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC)

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masters degree in an appropriate behavioral science discipline

  • A valid California Drivers License valid automobile insurance and reliable automobile transportation

  • Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Psychology of children and adolescents

  • Cultural and ethnic diversities of clients

  • Community resources

  • Treatment interventions

  • Normal and abnormal psychology

  • Assessment skills and crisis intervention

  • Treatment planning and intervention skills

  • Ethical and legal issues

  • Billing and documentation requirements

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Maintain an appropriate balance between direct client contact and documentation time

  • Adhere to all client confidentiality requirements and standards

  • Manage significant electronic paperwork functions necessary to support billing

  • Ability to manage the case load and schedule to maximize productivity

  • Ability to effectively resolve conflict and cope with crisis situations

  • Skills in building groups

  • Developing treatment/intervention plans with multidiscipline team

  • Monitoring for medication and treatment interventions consultation case management of children andadolescents and linkage and referral services

  • Ability to travel to multiple sites may be required

Pay Range

$36.96 - $53.60 /hour
