The Sierra Vista Hospital location, a 171-bed psychiatric care facility located in south Sacramento, is a full-service mental health facility and a center of support for patients and their families.     The Lead Clinician is a senior level clinical position that serves as the primary contact for the department in the absence of the Program Manager and/or Director. This position also serves as the primary contact and mentor for other clinicians, and assists with the training of new staff. The Lead Clinician is responsible for ensuring that the services delivered to patients are done so in a manner clinically appropriate to the patient’s individualized treatment plan, as well as for providing direct treatment activities to the patient, which may include individual, family, group or couples therapy, treatment planning/review, crisis intervention, and assessment for most appropriate levels of care. The Lead Clinician is also responsible for providing case management activities including, discharge planning, referrals to other services, collaborating with the attending physician, nurse and other staff, arranging appointments, conducting utilization reviews, and coordinating aftercare services.

    Qualifications

    Education: Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, mental health or a related field

    Experience: A minimum of two years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting. Experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, case management and discharge planning, and communication with external review organizations is required. DBT training is preferred.

    Licensures: Current LCSW, LMFT license in good standing required.

    Additional Requirements: Complete knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Exceptional organizational skills and engagement skills required. A working knowledge of current evidenced-based practices as related to psychiatric as well as substance abuse treatment is preferred.
