WorkSource Oregon Reserve Deputy Sheriff - Enforcement in Salem, Oregon

The Marion County Sheriff\'s Office is seeking applicants to join our team as a volunteer un-paid Reserve Deputy Sheriff. Marion County Reserves have been serving our community for decades. Their mission is to supplement the Sheriff\'s Office staff. We are currently recruiting for reserves to begin the Mid Valley Reserve Training (MVRT) in fall of 2024. Volunteering as a Marion County Sheriff\'s Office Reserve Deputy is unlike any other volunteer program. Reserve Deputies provide 24 hours of service per month requiring a commitment from the volunteer and the volunteer\'s family. Reserve Deputies are required to pay for some of their equipment. There are limited special events such as crime scene security and other details compensated at the Entry Level Deputy Trainee pay rate. Time commitment is a minimum of 24 hours per month with 16 of those hours dedicated to patrol functions and entail the following: Patrol; Criminal/traffic investigations; evidence; computerized report writing; public relations; emergencies; hazardous materials; civil process; communication; maintains proficiency; and observations. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION Must meet the following State Department of Public Safety Standards and Training requirements: 1. United States Citizen within one year of employment 2. At least 21 years of age at the time of employment (Marion County Sheriff\'s Office will consider applicants who are age 20, if they meet the qualifications of the position and are age 21 within 90 days from the recruitment close date.) 3. Possess a high school diploma, G.E.D., or 4-year post-secondary degree 4. Declared by a physician as able to perform the physical duties required by the occupation 5. Of good moral fitness, without legal conduct involving moral turpitude, dishonesty, fraud, deceit, misrepresentation, and conviction of drug and/or sex crimes. 6.
