UTAH'S HOGLE ZOO Maintenance Supervisor in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

POSITION SUMMARY

Under supervision of the Director of Facilities, assist in the general maintenance of all buildings, utilities, mechanical and fleet equipment, parking and walkway surfaces of the Zoo.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports directly to the Director of Facilities. Directly supervises the maintenance staff.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Effectively track all incoming repair orders to ensure accurate completion of repair requests.
  2. Assist the Director and Project Manager in scheduling to timely completion of various repairs.
  3. Maintain Zoo vehicle fleet, including preventive maintenance schedules, repairs, governmental compliance, fuel and lubricant inventories and record keeping
  4. Operate equipment associated with maintenance of zoo grounds and facilities, including motor vehicles, tractors, power tools and a variety of hand tools.
  5. Perform manual labor associated with repair and maintenance of zoo facilities.
  6. Assist with staff training, development and performance management.
  7. Advise Director of Facilities of safety issues or recommended improvements.
  8. Interact and cooperate with other departments.
  9. Other duties as assigned by Director of Facilities to achieve the goals and mission of the Zoo.

     

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of methods and materials used in construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and ability to supervise maintenance programs of each.
  • Prior experience in operations and maintenance work.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment; deal with guests and coworkers in a positive manner.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Valid Utah Driver's License required.
  • Ability to operate various light and heavy equipment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Work cooperatively and well with other departments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift throughout the day as well as safely lift 75 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in all types of weather.

Work Environment

Incumbent performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require a variety of physical activities which do not generally involve muscular strain, but do require activities related to walking, standing, bending, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required to perform essential functions. Requires lifting of up to 75 lbs.
