The Venosa Laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology at the University of Utah invites applications for a laboratory staff position beginning in 2024. The laboratory is currently studying the epithelial-immune cell crosstalk regulating inflammatory processes in the lung. We are particularly interested in studying how epithelial cell dysfunction (via genetic mutations) exacerbates injury induced by air pollution (i.e., ozone, particulate matter, wildfire smoke). To address this scientific question, we leverage a novel murine model of lung injury and fibrosis initiated by a mutation in the pulmonary epithelial cell specific Surfactant Protein-C.
