Job Description

The DevOps Engineer role will work with the Tools and Innovation (TINNO) team to design, install, configure, and manage the Oracle OCI infrastructure and network related devices, including Development, UAT, Production and a customer facing OCI instance.

The Tools and Innovation team is a compact, high-performance software development organization within the Oracle SaaS Applications. The team is utilized by the executive staff to create innovative tools to enhance and further the Oracle business. Frequently, these tools are both highly complex and highly visible, across the company. Executives rely on these mission-critical tools to make key business decisions that impact the future of Oracle's SaaS business.

The TINNO team uses state-of-the-art technology stacks and a well-defined agile process to efficiently produce quality results that thrill both executives and sibling departments with their creativity, ease-of-use, performance, and most importantly, their obvious utility.

In joining the Tools and Innovation team, the candidate is expected to own the following responsibilities .

Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate the infrastructure and configuration of applications with a focus on automation and infrastructure as code. Strong Terraform, Kubernetes and Helm knowledge is required.

  • Marshal designs and architecture of OCI environments through the onboard processes.

  • Apply cloud computing skills to deploy upgrades and fixes

  • Monitor and Optimize the organization's computing architecture

  • Maintain compliance with company's security standards including meeting with the OCI SaaS Security representatives to review outstanding issues, understanding future required changes, and improving the security posture of the tenancy.

  • Maintain and manage the network security including ACLs, subnets, and routing tables

  • Troubleshoot production issues, determine root cause, and design solutions that permanently resolve the issue

  • Coordinate with the development team to streamline code deployment

  • Perform code deployment and promotion to Testing and Production environments to support Sprint activities

  • Support and troubleshoot scalability, high availability, performance, monitoring, backup and restores of different environments

  • Evaluate performance trends and expected changes in demand and capacity, and establish the appropriate scalability plans

  • Provide technical support by identifying, investigating system performance issues, troubleshooting, resolving, monitor availability and documenting technical issues

  • Develop and maintain design & troubleshooting documentation

  • Implement automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines)

  • Collaborate with team members to improve the team's engineering tools, systems, procedures, and data security

  • Engage in post-issue analysis to examine incident response performance, identify areas for service improvement, and monitor the progress of implementing recommendations

  • Collaborate with dev teams to refine in-application diagnostics (example: error logging and reporting) and consolidate data across cloud-based services

  • Maintain Docker images

  • Work with program management to understand roadmaps, tenancy implications of roadmaps, and participate in Oracle security reviews during the release of new features and/or applications.

  • Maintain and renew required SSL certificates for tenancy operation.

  • Maintain required DNS records for team collateral.

Technical Knowledge; The more of these, the better.

  • OCI onboarding, processes, compliance

  • Best practices with respect to security and DevOps (or DevSecOps)

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, troubleshooting, and customer service skills

  • Experience with Terraform including sub modules.

  • Hands-on experience with an array of DevOps tools like Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm and OCI CLI,

  • Deep understanding of tenancy access policies and entry points for security enforcement.

  • Experience in network, server, & application-status monitoring

  • Experience using container ecosystem/technologies, especially Docker, and Kubernetes

  • Experience in the development and maintenance of Helm charts for Kubernetes deployments.

  • Experience with Prometheus/Grafana for metrics aggregation/visualization

  • Experience with OCI Logging Analytics for log analysis and problem identification

  • Experience in Configuration/Managing of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Systems Administration in Linux/Unix

  • Experience with Oracle Analytics Cloud and Oracle Analytics Server

  • Experience with Oracle Application Express (APEX) configuration

  • Strong command of software-automation for deploying production systems

  • Working knowledge of source control systems such as Git

  • Working knowledge of Java, databases and SQL is a plus

  • Experience with Identity Management (SAML, OAuth, and SSO) is a plus

  • Working knowledge of web and network protocols and standards (HTTP, TLS, DNS, etc)

  • Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, Azure is a plus

  • Experience in automation tools and eagerness to "automate all things"

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environments

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Must have 5+ years of relevant experience

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
