Job Summary

University Information Technology ( UIT ) has an opening for a student cable technician position.

Responsibilities

The cable plant is divided into two separate teams – the copper team and the fiber team. Employees mostly work with the copper team. Employees will remove/demolish and install phone and data cabling (e.g. Cat3, Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cable). Occasionally, employees will help with the fiber team to install fiber pathway and cabling. The work is physical, and entails getting into ceilings and crawl spaces to remove or install cabling.

Shifts are worked during the work week in four hour blocks. The blocks are from 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM and 12:00 – 4:00. We are asking that you are able to work 3-4 of these shifts per week.
