Navistar, Inc. Construction Manager Associate in San Antonio, Texas

Position Overview

We are actively seeking a Construction Manager Associate to join our team. This position reports directly to the Senior Construction Manager and plays a crucial role in the design, planning, and execution of construction projects for facilities across North America. The role is key in ensuring that all construction projects meet Navistar standards and comply with safety and insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the entire lifecycle of facility construction from design through completion, including the creation of detailed scopes of work that adhere to our stringent standards.

  • Responsible for the planning, budgeting, and scheduling of facility modifications, providing accurate estimates for equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs.

  • Oversees the allocation of building space, arrangement of communication services, and management of facility expansions.

  • Maintains oversight of health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with all regulatory codes throughout the construction process.

  • Coordinates and supervises construction teams and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to quality and contractual performance.

  • Regularly reviews project progress, updates job statuses through internal and external reports, and manages project deliverables and timelines.

  • Acquires all necessary construction permits and licenses, and effectively manages and mitigates project risks.

  • Works closely with internal departments to secure approvals, capital funding, and purchase orders for all project-related expenditures.

  • Processes and challenges change orders and approves contractor invoices for payment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 6 years of industrial construction or project management experience

  • At least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • Master’s degree

  • At least 4 years of industrial construction or project management experience

  • At least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • At least 8 years of industrial construction or project management experience

  • At least 1 year of lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

  • Exceptional interpersonal and analytical skills, with highly developed written and verbal communication abilities

  • Extensive project management experience, with a thorough understanding of construction administration processes including contracts, budgets, construction documents, and scheduling

  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple, overlapping projects ensuring they meet budget, timeline, and quality standards

  • Strong organizational skills, capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and familiar with the latest construction technologies
