The Position

Entry level position. All Food Service staff is responsible for maintaining effective customer service levels. Under the direction of a Supervisor, Lead Food Service Worker, or Senior Food Service Worker, perform routine duties of an assigned area of food services, snack bar, or other food operation; maintain food service facilities in a clean and sanitary condition; perform cashier and clerical duties. Performs basic and routine food preparation, serving, and routine facility cleaning and maintenance and may involve some basic direction of students or other food service personnel in an assigned area.

Major Responsibilities

Typical functions performed include, but are not limited to

Serving food to customers

Stocking food products in beverage coolers and snack rack

Cashiering

Qualifications

Requires no previous experience in the food service industry.

Should be able to read, write and communicate with a wide range of people.

Should be willing and able to easily take direction.

Desired Qualifications

Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:

All food handlers are required by San Diego County Code to possess either a valid food handler card issued by a county-authorized food handler training school or a County of San Diego food handler test administered by the current food safety manager who has passed a state-approved food safety certification exam.
