Plant Maintenance Technician (San Diego, CA)
Malin Space Science Systems (MSSS) is a private technology company that designs, develops and operates space camera systems for government and commercial aerospace customers and provides services in spacecraft instrument operations and space science research. As a member of our multidisciplinary space imaging systems design and production team, the Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of critical equipment and facilities, while helping to ensure the safety of our team and the flight hardware we manufacture. The Plant Maintenance Technician will need to be driven, self-directed, and organized, typically working independently. Managers and team members will provide support for problem-solving, scheduling, and prioritizing tasks. Essential Functions
Perform preventive maintenance, safety checks, and calibrations on all production equipment including but not limited to:
Vibration, pyroshock, thermal, and thermal-vacuum test systems
Vacuum deposition systems
Reflow assembly and X-ray inspection equipment
ESD protection/monitoring and humidity control systems
Liquid and gaseous nitrogen systems
Compressed air systems
Refrigeration systems
Reverse osmosis water treatment systems
Install ESD protection/monitoring equipment.
Coordinate 3rd-party repairs, as needed.
Perform safety checks and corrective actions in all production areas and ensure safety regulations are followed.
Clean class 10,000 cleanrooms and class 100,000 production and test areas on a rotational basis.
Perform basic cleaning in lab areas.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities
Support schedule changes to resolve conflicts among maintenance and daily operations activities.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Proven maintenance experience in a lab environment.
Attention to detail and ability to perform all work to the highest standard, seeking guidance when needed.
Demonstrated skills of working with others with proven decision-making capability.
Able to work with or without direct supervision and the ability to direct others.
Strong computer skills.
Good written and oral communication.
Ability to work with hand tools and various shop equipment (drills, metal cutting, etc.).
Ability to service machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
High regard for safety standards.
Experience with the production equipment listed above is preferred.
Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position operating a computer for periods of time, while handling multiple priorities simultaneously . Must be able to communicate clearly with a variety of people on a daily basis. Must be able to remain in a stationary position operating lab equipment for prolonged periods of time. Ability to work and move around in a cleanroom environment, wearing required outer garments including smock/coveralls, shoe covers, mask, hood and gloves. Must be able to traverse spaces in and around the office, labs, and machine shop as applicable. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed. Possess mental acuity at a level which will facilitate execution of complex maintenance tasks, working from written instructions and maintaining detailed written records. Ability to handle high stress levels in connection with multiple conflicting priorities and deadlines. High tolerance for ambiguity and shifting expectations. Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload. Ability to supervise and direct the work of outside vendors.
