The Scripps New Graduate Registered Nurse (RN) Residency Training Program is specifically designed for new graduate nurse orientation, with the goal of creating standardized practice and facilitating role transition in the clinical environment. Clinical Coach and Preceptor RNs provide education, coaching, and mentoring to new graduate RNs during a 40-week period to develop their competence, confidence, critical thinking, and documentation skills. New graduates in the program are trained as a collective group in various units. Upon successful completion of the program, nurses will be placed in a position within the Scripps system.

This program requires that you are available to work periods of both day and night shifts. There is no PTO (paid time off) allowed during the program.

Certification Requirements

  • Current California RN License or Interim Permit.Please note, if you are selected for the program and cannot provide a valid CA RN license or Interim Permit by the start of the program, you will be withdrawn from the program.
  • BLS for Health Care Provider from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association may be required for selected units *Minimum Qualifications * To be eligible to apply, new grads must have:
  • Completed an accredited nursing program within the last year at the date of application
  • Six (6) months or less of RN experience at date of application for the program
