We are seeking a Data Engineer - TM1 / Planning Analytics to be part in a highly customer centric team for World Wide Amazon Stores Finance. The Team: WW Amazon Stores Finance is poised for a revolution. Historically, automation and technical infusion has taken a back-seat to important financial functions such as controllership, financial oversight, risk mitigation, and strong investment analysis. Finance is set to be the Chief Story Tellers, and along the way inject machine learning, BI, advanced analytics and technical tools – built to suit finance and business needs.

We are constantly innovating customer experience for internal Amazon customers. We focus on highly specialized space of Finance, Financial Planning and Analytics space. We understand our customers well and expect incumbent to have an experience on solving customer problems in this space.

The ideal candidate is structured, innovative and enjoys taking on hard, ambiguous problems. They are creative, driven and highly productive. They are a great team player who will naturally elevate the performance of the people around them and have a track record of leading and delivering complex technical systems.

You will be working with a cross functional team of software engineers, application engineers, data engineers and product managers, and customer service teams.

To be successful you need to be flexible and entrepreneurial, comfortable operating with ambiguity and willing to develop quick proof of concepts. You are a true owner - you are passionate about the potential customer and societal impact and will operate at all levels, diving deep into the details while providing strategic inputs for the product.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics or other technical discipline

  • 5+ years of relevant IBM Cognos TM1/Planning Analytics experience including system configuration, model building and developing reports or dashboards with TM1

  • TM1 technical skills: Rules and TI coding, security setup, report development, ongoing maintenance of existing models

  • Experience with data modelling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines

  • Corporate finance experience exhibiting knowledge of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting functions and processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions

  • Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

  • Working experience with TM1Py, REST API

  • Experience with design & delivery of formal training curriculum and programs

  • Project management, scoping, reporting, and scheduling experience a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer focused, professional demeanor

  • Able to work on a diverse team

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
