JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing Risk Supervisory Oversight for merchants and ISO/ISVs, Wholesale ISOs and Payfacs, to ensure risk is commensurate with the Bank’s risk appetite and policies & procedures in place. The individual identifies key risks and works with other business units to ensure risks are managed appropriately. Performs all duties in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures, and applicable U.S. State and Federal laws and regulations wherein the company operates.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in building Risk Oversight Framework for Wholesale ISOs and Payfacs in compliance with Card Brand Requirements.

  • Be a subject matter expert for risks posed by complex entities such as Integrated Software Vendors, Retail ISOs/ Referral Agents, Payfacs and Wholesale ISOs and advice on operational processes and controls to mitigate risk.

  • Provide quality control over underwriting of new merchants, and complex entities such as Integrated Software Vendors, Retail ISOs/ Referral Agents, Payfacs and Wholesale ISOs.

  • Implement Automated streamlined Underwriting technology (SAAS) solution and responsible as a Model Owner.

  • Collaborate with Product and data teams to research data anomalies, and make product design efficiency and effectiveness recommendations.

  • Provide Oversight over the ISV, Retail ISO, Wholesales ISO and PayFacs of Deepstack Payments while collaborating with the Risk Team to determine alignment with bank policies and procedures.

  • Assist with creating, maintaining and enforcing Corporate and Merchant Acquiring Policy and Procedures.

  • Maintain Oversight over Periodic Reviews and validate the accuracy of merchant risk tiers and ensure appropriate risk mitigation is in place and documented comprehensively.

  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of transactions with enhanced risk profiles, including an escalated review of credit, financial reports, tax returns, and merchant processing statements to determine the best way to maximize opportunities while managing risk.

  • Partner closely with the Risk & Compliance Division to develop policies and practices that support the highest level of safety & soundness within an innovative and scalable environment. Create risk mitigation strategies that support, and do not detract, from a positive customer experience.

  • Collaboration with senior leader on complex decisions such as Reserve Reviews and Releases, Approval Criteria for Higher Risk Merchants, Termination of Merchants and Risk Mitigation.

  • Evaluate the systems, teams, procedures, and processes to then develop a clear plan of how the Risk, Underwriting, and Compliance teams can evolve to meet the needs of various stakeholders.

  • Analytical mindset with an independent critical investigative approach to problem solving.

  • Thorough recordkeeping and file management, adhering to risk and compliance standards and policies set by the Card Brands and the Bank.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of Card Brand rules and regulations for the payments space.

  • Ability to understand Credit Risk and coach team members on best practices for analyzing potential risk through processing data and/or financial statements and ratios.

  • Aggregate data from multiple sources and analyze via data manipulation to achieve a comprehensive assessment.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to the Bank’s Compliance Risk Management Policy Program Regulatory Accountabilities and this position including but not limited to the following: Regulation DD (Truth in Savings Act), Regulation CC (Expedited Funds Availability Act), Regulation E (Electronic Funds Transfer Act), Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Fair Housing Act (FHA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Customer Information Program (CIP), Right to Financial Privacy Act (RFPA, state and federal) and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • Five to Eight years’ supporting oversight of risk and compliance, and internal control identification.

  • Five to Eight years’ experience in the banking and/or financial services industry preferred.

  • Five to Eight years’ experience risk assessing ISVs, ISOs, and Oversight Programs over Wholesale ISO and Payfacs.

  • Experience working with Credit Risk SAAS solutions.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in using multiple online data platforms to access and obtain risk and compliance information and general knowledge of industry payment platforms.

  • Position will be salaried full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm PST

SALARY RANGE: $101,212.80 - 168,679.68 USD; Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
