Oberg Industries, located in Sarver, PA has an immediate opening for a Quality Technician.  The Quality Technician is a key player on the manufacturing floor that will approve products and troubleshoot issues by using testing and inspection methods.  The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for inspecting products with various measuring tools to make sure they meet customer specifications and company standards.   This position is a night shift position working from 4:00pm to 2:00am and will receive a 20% shift differential.  Come be part of something bigger and join our Oberg team!

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.   

  • Responsible for the technical inspection of manufactured products.

  • Assist and conduct First Article Inspections, Capability and Statistical Studies, Gage R&R, PPAP, and APQP submissions requirements. 

  • Perform calibrations for all tools.

  • Conduct data collection and reporting needs/requirements.

  • Assist in new tooling review and coordination. 

  • Assist in troubleshooting customer quality concerns and development of new part quality.

  • Compare parts with specified dimensions using appropriate measuring equipment. 

  • Perform floor, set-up, and final inspections. 

  • Set-up and maintain part records. 

  • Maintain “In Process Inspection Procedures”.

  • Assist with Quality technical questions.

  • Inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, microscopes, indicators, and height gauges, as indicated in the quality plan.

  • Make judgement on the inspected part and give approval if part is acceptable.

  • Use PC and automation inspection equipment.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in a standing, sitting, or bent position for 10 hours/day and must be able to lift a maximum of 35 pounds with control and unassisted.    The employee must be able to raise arms above shoulders and maintain dexterity for extended periods of time and also use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and be able to stoop or kneel for excessive periods of time.  The employee must be able to perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.  The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment. The employee must be able to travel between departments and divisions, and domestic and international travel may be occasionally required.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS :  

  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints including geometric tolerances and be able to comprehend specifications.

  • Must have a working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Must be able to communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.

  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations. 

  • Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes and gloves.

     

    PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE / EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • ISO / TS experience strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years quality or inspection experience required, 3 – 5 years preferred, or minimum of 3 years press room experience preferred.

  • Previous hands-on experience in manufacturing required .

  • Statistical data analysis program experience a plus.
