SMBC Software Engineer, Java Middleware (Hybrid Phoenix and LA) in Scottsdale, Arizona

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $75,000.00 and $150,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

SUMMARY:

Imagine helping to build and design an entire Digital Business Unit for Online Banking. We have a great opportunity for an innovative and effective Software Engineer. We are seeking a strong Software Engineer for our Middleware/API engineering team. This team is responsible for building the Customer facing Omni Channel Services using Java, Kotlin. In this role, you will work as Engineer in an Agile team and collaborate with Product Owner, Designer, and QA to design, build & maintain the Digital Bank.

POSITIONS SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field required, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences or equivalent.

  • 2+ years of Java/ functional programming experience.

  • 1+ year of experience with Public Cloud Platform (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Experience designing and supporting customer facing RESTful APIs.

  • Thorough understanding of JSON, Web Service technologies, and data structure fundamentals.

  • Good understanding of design concepts and design patterns.

  • Demonstrated experience in Agile development, application design, software development, and testing.

  • Aptitude for learning and applying programming concepts.

  • Collaborator, self-starter, and passion for programming.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with Stakeholders, Product, and Experience owners.

  • Experience with CICD tools and DevOps.

  • Knowledge of Kotlin and GraphQL is a plus.

  • Experience with financial services is a plus.
