The Department of Medicine's Division of Hematology & Oncology has an outstanding opportunity open for a Temporary Budget/Fiscal Analyst.

Under the direction of the Phase 1 Program Business Manager, this position will be responsible for both pre and post award management. They will manage program budgets (approximately 50 budgets) with a focus on tracking revenue and expenses.

This position is constantly required to integrate information from multiple sources to ensure that all the requirements of the University and external agencies, institutions and industry are met. This position requires independent judgment and decision-making in researching and resolving queries relating to the payables and receivables management of all Phase 1 Program clinical studies. This position is required to coordinate efforts across the Alliance partners including UWMC, FHCC, and Harborview departments and staff. The position will maintain dynamic communication with the study investigators, research and program staff for the other programs within the Division.

Job Responsibilities

• Payables management - Establish and maintain methods to reconcile budgeted patient costs against patient charges; • Review vendor bills and approve for payment making sure that bills are directed to the right budget and payee. • Actively participate in the migration of records and tracking in the Oncore CTMS (Clinical Trial Management System) database. • Receivables management - Working with study teams, establish methods to track patient accrual and visits for invoicing sponsors for pass through costs, resolve issues and disputes in a timely manner and purse collection per agreed timeline based on contracts and/or awards. • Progress/Financial Reports – Assist with preparing quarterly budget reports for submission to investigators providing status and projection on revenue and expenses and providing variance analysis, as needed. • Budget extension and closing – coordinate/work with GCA and OSP in budget, no-cost extension, and budget closing. • Assist Phase 1 Program Business Manager with Pre-award activities. • Perform other budget and administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications • A Bachelor’s Degree with major study in accounting, business administration, or related field and two years of experience performing fiscal analysis, planning, and reporting, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Desirable Qualifications

• Effective and professional oral and written communication skills; • Exceptional problem-solving skills. Must be highly organized, service-oriented, flexible and resourceful. • Demonstrated competency in working with numbers and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Power Point. • Ability to perform all duties in a manner which demonstrates professionalism and an attitude of cooperation and willingness to be part of a team. • Medical Terminology or experience in healthcare setting. • Knowledge and familiarity with various UW Financial Systems (Workday, SAGE). • Previous experience at the University of Washington and oncology trials. • Knowledge and familiarity with OnCore CTMS (Clinical Trial Management Software).

Conditions of Employment

• This position requires a flexible work schedule. Stringent deadlines from sponsor organizations/companies to meet deadlines may require overtime including occasional evening and weekend overtime. • This position requires the ability to function independently, establishing priorities as needed with autonomy while reporting to the Business Manager. • Fast-paced office environment, with a high volume of often-complex projects. • The work is deadline-driven and requires using a computer and telephone for the majority of the day. • Projects may require travel between affiliate locations.
