Amergis Lab Assistant in Seattle, Washington

The Laboratory Assistant, under the direct supervision ofthe Laboratory Manager, is responsible for providing general assistance tolaboratory personnel. Specific duties and skills will vary based on theassigned laboratory section.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides quality customer service in each patientinteraction by providing instruction, emotional support or other patient careto obtain specimens

  • Receives and handles laboratory specimens, equipment andsupplies

  • Delivers samples and supplies to various laboratorydepartments

  • Prepares specimen or fluid samples to transport from thecollection site to laboratories

  • Use designated carrier service to send specimens at the endof each shift

  • Assists with inventory control of laboratory supplies

  • Performs basic office and clerical duties as assigned

  • Assists laboratory personnel as needed

  • Performs basic laboratory tests as directed

  • Correct utilization of appropriate personal protectiveequipment (PPE)

  • Assists in maintaining a clean laboratory work environment

  • Dispose of unused specimens in accordance with clinicprotocol and applicable laws, standards, or policies

  • Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for riskidentification, risk assessment and risk control

  • Ensure to comply with HIPAA, CLIA, COLA, and CAP regulatoryrequirements

  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology or relevantfield preferred

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • Phlebotomy certification may be required per state/contract

  • One year experience working in a laboratory settingpreferred

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
