Amazon Principal Technical Program Manager, Buying Experience in Seattle, Washington

Amazon’s Product Detail Page team seeks an experienced and motivated Principal Technical Program Manager to be a single threaded leader on a strategic initiative that will change how customers use and interact with the Product Detail Page WW. One of the most visited pages of the internet, this role will be instrumental to driving customer facing change, and partner broadly across many Amazon Consumer organizations.

Our team blends machine learning models to rank, select and tailor the page layout for the various products and customer experiences WW. We are responsible for the experiences and services that enable developers, including our own, to create tailored shopping experiences for every customer, product, business and marketplace offered by Amazon. We build scalable and extensible frameworks which allow for many teams at Amazon to innovate within the Offers Experience in a federated manner. In this role you will participate in all parts of the software development process, from collaborating with customers on design to executing that design in a scalable and extensible way. You will have the opportunity to solve hard computer science problems and help the business every day. Successful candidates are passionate about translating high-level, ambiguous business goals to software platforms that enable multiple businesses.

You must be able to:

  • Interact with Project Sponsors, other Technical Program Managers, and multiple development teams to define and deliver complex cross-functional projects.

  • Drive large scale projects spanning teams across Amazon from inception to conclusion, formulate the product vision, define user stories, research appropriate technical solutions.

  • Clearly communicate vision, plans and project status to Amazon executives and key technical and business stakeholders.

  • Work closely with the software development team on delivering high-quality solutions, and provide guidance regarding architecture, design, and priorities.

  • Engage with other teams across Amazon to evangelize the team and your projects, to build relationships and help identify existing technologies that can be leveraged to meet your team’s goals.

  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs balancing the business needs versus constraints.

  • Create, maintain and disseminate project information to stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of software development experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
