Amazon Senior UX Designer, Identity & Cloud Governance UX in Seattle, Washington

Description

The AWS Identity & Cloud Governance (IDCG) UX team is seeking a talented User Experience Designer. This designer will have a significant impact on our business as they lead the design for core AWS services. The designer will work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, executives, and other designers, leading design throughout the strategy, design, and development life-cycle. Key job responsibilities

  • Understand and design solutions for AWS user needs and problems.

  • Work with product managers, engineers, and other designers to finalize and build solutions.

  • Develop and drive a forward-looking vision for the overall customer experience.

  • Learn and teach skills used to do the above.

A day in the life

A normal day as a designer on the AWS IDCG UX team could take many forms. You might be talking directly with customers to understand their current experience, meeting with engineers to pitch them on a new idea, or working through the final fit-and-finish of a project ready for launch. You could be leading our weekly team learning session, or critiquing your peer's design work or forward-looking UX-strategy document.

About the team

The AWS IDCG UX team has a core mission to balance security and usability in the core identity, access, and governance experiences in AWS. We ensure AWS is both secure and usable. We educate the rest of the AWS design community how to design for, interact with, and integrate with these services, tools, and concepts. Our team culture fosters an environment of learning, collaboration, and driving the vision for the future of our products.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of design experience.

  • 5+ years of industry experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar design-related role.

  • An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating a range design solutions.

  • Solid understanding of information architecture and interaction design.

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills; able to present strong rationale for design decisions to senior stakeholders.

  • Experience using data to influence product managers, design leadership, and engineering leadership on design solutions.

  • Track record of delivering effective design solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related.

  • 10+ years of professional work experience as UX or product designer.

  • 3+ years of professional work experience as a UX or product designer, designing solutions for enterprise products.

  • Experience designing identity-related products.

  • Experience designing for developers and other technical users.

  • Experience gathering user data via usability studies, customer interviews, etc.

  • Ability to build prototypes in professional grade prototyping tools or HTML/JavaScript/CSS is a plus. Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
